Counselor/Volunteer Opportunities and Expectations
We at Camp Magical Moments are looking for exceptional people from all walks of life who will volunteer their time for our various camps.
For our main camp – the cancer camp is taking place June 16th – 22nd, 2024 – there is a mandatory training session beginning Friday, June 14th and concluding at the arrival of the campers on Sunday, June 16th in the afternoon. Camp is over on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024.
Each staff member must be 18 years of age or older and will undergo a Criminal Background Check, following a strict selection process. We are looking for those individuals who are willing to donate their time and energy and who are willing to give 150% of themselves during this fun-filled, exhausting week. There is a lot of physical work that takes place during the week, so being in good shape is recommended.
Some of the responsibilities of the Counselors and Volunteers are:
Cabin Counselors – Cabin Counselors work with a crew of other volunteers and staff in supporting and assisting the campers 24 hours a day. Counselors sleep in rooms with the campers and participate in daily activities. Counselors offer continuous companionship, support, and encouragement to each camper, with a 2 to 1 camper /counselor ratio.
Medical Support – During the week of camp, we have a great medical team on site 24 hours a day. They are responsible for reviewing camper medical files, administering medications, and handling any medical emergencies for all campers and staff.
Additional Staff Support
Are you a good cook? Do you have a wonderful talent to share? We are always on the lookout for new volunteers to help support our camp in various ways:
- Arts & Crafts
- Activities – horses, archery, climbing, swimming, etc
- Campfires
- Kitchen – chefs or clean-up
